Everything you need on shift — key contacts, policies, training and pay.
In the first instance, contact your direct line manager. If you need further support, direct your query to one of the following. We also have a team of Quality Managers and Coordinators who can support you, and your query will be passed to them where relevant.
Contact for major issues and Designated Safeguarding Lead queries.
If you are unable to attend a session for sickness or any other reason, where possible please give as much notice as you can.
All contact regarding sickness and absence should be sent at a reasonable time of day even if last minute — this can be outside office hours, but please try not to message after 9pm or before 6am.
NOTES: Please give at least 3 weeks’ notice. Avoid the first week of a new term or the first week of a holiday camp period. If too many others have holiday approved at the same time your request may be declined. We can’t approve holiday in the first week of the Autumn Term in September unless in exceptional circumstances.
As a self-employed worker you set your own availability. Please give as much notice as possible for any absence. Frequent, regular or last-minute unavailability for a scheduled session may lead to a review of your ongoing placement for that session.
NOTES: Please give at least 3 weeks’ notice. Avoid the first week of a new term.
We aim to provide as much support for our colleagues as possible, both in person and remotely.
You’ll have regular supervisions with your line manager — an opportunity to discuss all aspects of your role.
Someone from the management team will also visit regularly to carry out observations and mentoring, for you individually and as part of your team.
If you need additional support, in the first instance talk to your line manager.
uKids maintains up-to-date, comprehensive policy & protocol documents. Please make sure you are familiar with these and review them regularly.
As a uKids team member you are expected to follow our expectations and the uKids code of conduct as set out in this document. Please take time to familiarise yourself with it.
We ask all colleagues to complete induction training during onboarding.
We offer many opportunities for CPD and developing skills and knowledge, including briefing sessions you can access. Talk to your line manager about any specific training that would benefit you in your role.
uKids must have a minimum of one person in club at all times who holds a relevant, in-date full Paediatric First Aid Certificate. If you don’t hold this but are interested in completing it, talk to your line manager.
We recommend this special needs awareness course: Inclusive Education: Exploring SEND Practice & Strategies.
All uKids team members are paid in line with the uKids Grade Structure.
